Brief Description

Bring creativity and technology together to design the interactive experiences of tomorrow with the Master in Interaction and Experience Design.

Interaction design focuses not just on what system do, but how users interact with it visually, physically, and behaviourally. It considers usability, efficiency, feedback, and emotional response to create a smooth and satisfying user experience.

Designed for graduates in design, computer science, engineering, and the arts, the programme provides an in-depth, hands-on exploration of the techniques and tools used to create human- centred design in technology and systems that are used today.

You will choose to study for either the Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Science (MSc) award.

An MA degree is awarded to students whose thesis project has more emphasis on design research process, resulting in an artistic project which might involve developing a system, installation, composition performance or experimental approaches, with sophisticated and developmental use of technology.

An MSc degree is awarded to students whose thesis project focuses on the development and implementation of an innovative product or prototype, with significant technical challenge or scientific method.

During this programme, you will:

  • Develop design thinking and engage in a human-centred approach to the design of interactive systems.

  • Focus in areas such as experience, interaction and participatory design, internet of things, social media and virtual reality, mobile and physical computing.

  • Gain greater awareness of the opportunities offered by computer technology in a range of industries and services in new and traditional media like; audio, video, recording, editing, web development, broadcasting and social media.

  • Have access to a dedicated design studio, prototyping workshop (equipped with 3D printing and laser cutting facilities), recording studios and high-quality professional video cameras and electronic equipment.

Key Information:

What our students say:

T.C. Graduate 2023/24

"The most rewarding part was turning my ideas into real-time designs. Each module gave me the chance to test and iterate my work, allowing me to see how my designs held up in practice and where they needed improvement. That continuous cycle of feedback and refinement was incredibly valuable."

A.J. Graduate 2020/21

"The programme fundamentally changed how I approach challenges—teaching me to empathize deeply with users, collaborate closely with teams of designers, and align diverse perspectives to address gaps and drive collaborative solutions. This mindset shift has boosted my confidence and made me a more proactive contributor at work, allowing me to drive technological projects with a genuine appreciation for design"
