Brief Description
The mission of this MSc programme is to equip experienced project professionals with skills, knowledge and understanding of project and programme management as a means of delivering sustainable benefits to contemporary organisations.
The MSc in Project & Programme Management is a two-year, part-time, fully online master’s degree designed for experienced project professionals seeking to advance their careers and gain international recognition in the field.
Delivered by the Centre for Project Management at the University of Limerick, and accredited by the PMI-GAC, this programme develops the leadership, technical, and strategic skills required to manage increasingly complex projects and programmes in a global business environment.
It balances academic insight with practical application, enabling graduates to deliver sustainable value to organisations across industries.
With flexible delivery designed to support working professionals, students engage with expert faculty, real-world projects, and an international learning community.
Career progression is at the core of the programme, equipping graduates for senior roles in project and programme management, consultancy, and leadership.
During this programme, you will:

- Conduct in-company and independent research projects to apply theory to real-world challenges.

Year 1
Autumn Semester
- Project and Programme Management: Science and Principles (MN6901) explores the core concepts and theories of project management science.
- People and Behaviour in Projects (PM6901) focuses on understanding behaviour and people issues in projects.
Spring Semester
- Project and Programme Planning and Control (MN6911) Applies goal directed methods & tracking, aimed at achieving future sustainable benefits through projects and programmes
Raises awareness of the importance of effective leadership, having clear roles, responsibilities and appropriate governance structures in place.
- Programme Value, Risk and Decision-Making (MN6912) Explains how to develop business models and value solutions that are implemented through programmes, with a focus on long term sustainable benefits.
Summer Semester
- In Company Project (MN6903) Is a "cap stone" that provides the opportunity to apply many of the learnings from the first year of the MSc. in a real project setting.
Year 2
Autumn Semester
- Strategic Management and Programmes (MN6921) Provides a critical overview of corporate strategy and strategy implementation with a focus on programme management competence as levers for strategic renewal.
- Knowledge and Information Management in Project Environments (MI6902) Shows how good management of knowledge and information resources can contribute to enhanced organisational performance through projects Spring Semester.
- Research in Projects & Organisations (MN6941) Explains various research methods and how they can be applied to investigate industry related problems and phenomena with particular emphasis on the management of projects.
- International Project Management (MN6922) Addresses the challenges of global projects including leading, communicating and collaborating with virtual teams with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Commercial Management of Projects (MN6931) https://bookofmodules.ul.ie/Default.aspx?ModuleCodeParameter=|MN6042| Includes project evaluation and selection with specific emphasis on commercial aspects that effect project investment decisions.
Summer Semester
- Research paper (MN6913) Provides an opportunity to explore project management as a discipline and use the latest research and conduct an empirical study into issues and phenomena that arise on projects.
Books and journal articles needed for the course will be available online through the UL Glucksman Library.

MSc in Project Programme Management (Online) - Student Data – GAC
- Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8,) with at least a second class honours, grade 2 (2:2) in a relevant discipline
- The university may shortlist and invite you to an interview.
- Applicants should have at least 4 years of relevant work experience, particularly in the areas of project management.

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet the standard entry requirements, as long as you can show that you have the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for the programme.

- Title the documents you are uploading. For example, "Personal Statement", "Undergraduate Transcript", "Postgraduate Transcript", "English Language Certificate" etc.
- *If you are waiting to graduate, submit your application with the documents you have to date, you don’t need to have finished final exams before applying.

Please note that international study visas are only available to students studying full-time in Ireland. This programme does not qualify for a study visa.
Annual fees are billed by semester. Once registered, students may be eligible to apply for a monthly payment plan.
