UL/CSA 62368-1, the Product Safety Standard for Audio/Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment - Part 1: Safety Requirements, has been updated with a fourth revision to include the latest hazard-based safety principles and requirements that emphasize product design, production and market placement.
Published on July 31, 2025, UL/CSA 62368-1 4th edition continues to highlight product safety by keeping up with new market technologies while also addressing new safety concerns. The 4th edition contains several minor updates from the previous 3rd edition, but also includes several significant revisions.
Key updates in the 4th edition include:
Superseding the use of legacy Standards UL/CSA 60950-1, the Standard for Information Technology Equipment - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements and UL 60065, the Standard for Standard for Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Apparatus - Safety Requirements, which can affect components used in an end product certified to UL/CSA 62368-1.
Continuing to recognize rapid advancements in technology in data centers and expanding the scope and requirements covering liquid-cooled systems.
New requirements for products that include coin cell/button batteries.
