Higashihachibuse Highland is a plateau that spreads out at the foot of Mt. Takatsubo, which is 1,104 meters above sea level. The Hyperbowl Touhachi Ski Resort is located between the plateau and the foot of Mt. Takatsubo, and is bustling with snowboarders in the winter.
If you walk from the village of Bekku along the ski slopes towards Mt. Takatsubo, you can feel the fresh breeze of the plateau and in spring you can enjoy picking "warabi" while climbing the mountain.
Autumn is especially recommended, as the silver grass swaying in the autumn breeze is a beautiful sight.
From the observation deck near the summit, you can enjoy a view of the famous mountains of the area. From the Mt. Takatsubo refuge hut to the summit, you can walk surrounded by cedars and larch trees.
In the area surrounding Higashihachibuse Highlands, you will find Mt. Hyounosen and the scenic Bekku Rice Terraces, with its approximately 130 rice fields offering beautiful scenery in every season.
In spring, the image of Mt. Hyonosen is reflected upside down in the flooded rice fields, making it a popular photo spot along with the real Mt. Hyonosen.
