We are developing the functional oils and fats that help people live healthy lives based on extraction, refining and stabilization technologies. We were one of the first companies to recognize the importance of DHA, the functional ingredient included in breast milk and turned it into a product using our unique refining, deodorizing, and processing techniques. We also engage in research and development covering not only oils and fats but also all kinds of lipids, and introduce a wide variety of functional lipids ingredients to the market. Currently, the functional phospholipid "phosphatidylserine", and aliphatic higher alcohol "policosanols (product name: Komecosanol®)" , are attracting attention as high value-added ingredients and are highly regarded in the health food market.
The Fats-coating technique that we developed coats powdered active ingredients with fats at room temperature to improve stability, mask the undesired taste, prevent moisture absorption, and prevent direct contact. Many coated products such as vitamins and natural extracts have been put into practical use to meet health needs and applied to the food and animal feed markets. Recently, we also developed a coating technique using a water-insoluble substance. These techniques can achieve acid resistance and increase bioavailability expanding the scope for coated products.
After completing a new health food manufacturing plant in October 2007, we received a Dietary Supplement GMP Certificate from the Japan Health and Nutrition Food Association on October 30, 2008. Taking advantage of our extensive knowledge about ingredients and formulas as well as powder-processing techniques, we can provide you with a comprehensive range of support for product creation. This includes concept creation, production design, manufacturing, packaging, and quality control.

Functional food plant: features
The production line covers powder and granule processing of dietary ingredients, as well as tableting, filling and packaging, and everything in between.
The production area consists of a clean area and a general area. Air cleanliness in the clean area is managed by class 8 (ISO 14644-1).
Each piece of equipment is placed in its own separate room, which comes with a change room. Hallways are managed under positive air pressure, and the inside of each room is managed under negative air pressure.
The processes of mixing to tableting are done in a closed system. We prevent contamination of the tableting machine by removing and cleaning the rotor.
There is a manufacturing control system in place to quickly establish traceability and prevent human error.
The robust anti-contamination systems at our manufacturing plant mean we can process ingredients such as lactobacillus (live bacteria), which are difficult to handle and would otherwise raise concerns about contamination inside the plant and to other products.

Nano-emulsion products
Based on emulsification techniques that we have spent years accumulating, we are developing nano-emulsion products that are processed to stably disperse oil soluble ingredients that do not dissolve in water. Solubilization is a technique to achieve water-solubility by emulsifying oil soluble ingredients and reduce size of emulsified particles down to the nano-level. This technique will make it possible to mix oil soluble ingredients, which traditionally do not dissolve in water, into drinks and jellies to add new features such as clarity, oxidation stability of substances subject to solubilization, and increased bioavailability, to these products. We are taking advantage of these features to develop nano-emulsion products that contain vitamins and functional lipids.

Nutritional foods
Based on emulsification techniques using proteins and oils, we develop nutritional food products. Our nutritional food products such as "high-protein beverages" which provide much protein in a small volume and "functional oil-based beverages" contain functional oils such as DHA, perilla oil and medium-chain fatty acids, make it easy to supply nutrients that are often lacking in the diet alone. Right from the concept creation to production and quality assurance of the final product, we provide one-stop support for developing nutritional food products as we cast customer’s ideas into shape.
