1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in November 1999 were 297,180 yen increased by 0.1% compared with a year earlier .

Contractual cash earnings were 283,074 yen increased by 0.2% and scheduled cash earnings were 264,168 yen decreased by 0.2%.

Real wage index was increased by 1.5%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in November 1999 were 157.4 hours decreased by 0.3% compared with a year earlier.

Scheduled hours worked were 147.4 hours decreased by 0.4%.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 13.4 hours increased by 8.9% and its seasonally adjusted figure was increased by 0.4% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in November 1999 were decreased by 0.2% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.0%, part-time employees were increased by 3.5%.

Regular employees of major industries were as follows:decreased by 2.0% in Manufacturing, decreased by 1.4% in Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Places, and increased by 1.6% in Services.
