Average monthly total cash earnings per a regular employee of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in June 1999 were 481,425 yen decreased by 3.3% from the same month of the previous year.

Contractual cash earnings were 282,246 yen decreased by 0.4% and scheduled cash earnings were 264,955 yen decreased by 0.5%.

Real wage indices were decreased by 2.8%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per a regular employee of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in June 1999 were 159.1 hours decreased by 1.9% from the same month of the previous year .

Scheduled hours worked were 150.0 hours decreased by 1.9%.

Non-scheduled hours worked in manufacturing were 11.7 hours decreased by 0.8%. And seasonally adjusted figures were decreased by 1.8% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Average employment of regular employees of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in June 1999 were decreased by 0.5% from the same month of the previous year , full-time employees were decreased by 1.3% from the same month of the previous year, part-time employees were increased by 3.9% from the same month of the previous year.

Average employment of regular employees by main industries were decreased by 2.4% in Manufacturing, decreased by 1.0% in Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Places, and increased by 1.8% in Services.
