1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per a regular employees of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in March 1999 were 306,815 yen decreased by 0.5% from the same month of the previous year .

Contractual cash earnings were 280,907 yen decreased by 0.3% and scheduled cash earnings were 262,483 yen decreased by 0.2%.

Real wage indices were decreased by 0.1%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per a regular employees of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in March 1999 were 154.7 hours decreased by 0.7% from the same month of the previous year .

Scheduled hours worked were 144.9 hours decreased by 0.4%.

Non-scheduled hours worked in manufacturing were 12.5 hours decreased by 4.7%. And seasonally adjusted figures were increased by 1.1% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Average employment of regular employees of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in March 1999 were decreased by 0.3% from the same month of the previous year , full-time employees were were decreased by 1.1% from the same month of the previous year, part-time employees were increased by 3.3% from the same month of the previous year.

Average employment of regular employees by main industries were decreased by 2.2% in Manufacturing, decreased by 0.5% in Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Place, and increased by 1.7% in Services.
