On December 27, 2019 Japan submitted the Registration Dossier of the 2025 World Exposition in Japan, named as the "Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan" to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).

On September 25, 2017, Japan submitted a bid dossier, the document outlining the proposed plan, to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) to host the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai.
