Main Activities
NVAL is responsible for assuring the quality, efficacy and safety of veterinary medicinal products (VMPs), quasi-drugs, medical devices and Regenerative, Cellular therapy and Gene therapy products. Our main activities are planning and coordinating of inspections and tests, national assay, distributing of standard products as national reference laboratory. It takes important role to secure animal/human health and food safety. Therefore, we expand our activities like Monitoring on drug-resistant bacteria in the field, environmental effect assessment of VMPs, Emergency management on exotic virulent diseases by evaluate and stockvaccines for them, etc. An outline of our activity is as follows.

1.Ensuring the quality of VMPs
(1)To make standards and distributing of standard products
(2)Internal cooperation on harmonisation of tecnical requirements for registration of veterinary drugs(VICH)
(3)Quality assurance
1)National assay on veterinary biological products
2)Quality testing on antibiotic products by ministerial order
3)Sampling tests at the distributing stage, and on-site inspections
4)Tests to evaluate equibalece of biological products
(4)Tests for quality controll on seed lot system
(5)Scientific research and study to support guidances and to improve methods of tests
(6)Technical training and International technical cooperation
2.Technical examination on approval applications
(1)Inspection to evaluate the confomity to reliability criteria (GLP, GCP, GMP, etc)
(2)Checking on the information on reevaluatin of VMPs
(3)Technical examination and consultation on the approval applications
(4)Data-base on approved drugs, adverse events in the field, etc.
3.For the food safety and Emergency management
(1)Studies to establish the standards of using VMPs
(2)Monitoring on drug-resistant bacteria derived from animals in the field
(3)Emergency management in response to exotic virulent diseases
(4)Environmental effect assessment of VMPs
