Participated in the 4th Coast Guard Global Summit, the highest number ever recorded!
The 4th Coast Guard Global Summit was held in Rome, Italy from September 10th to 12th, bringing together 115 heads of coast guards and related organizations from 99 countries and regions. Admiral SEGUCHI Yoshio, Commandant of the Japan Coast Guard attended and served as co-chair with Commandant of the Italian Coast Guard.
At the summit, the heads
- Recalled the importance of strengthening cooperation among the coast guard agencies, enhancing dialogue, and concentrating wisdom, technology, and knowledge from around the world.
- Supported the promotion and strengthening of Online Program for the Coast Guard Global Human Resource Development.
- Deepened understanding of maritime domain awareness (MDA) utilization cases in various countries and recognized the need for countries to work together to address maritime challenges.
And above-mentioned contents were concluded in the chair's summary.
In addition, it was decided that the 5th Coast Guard Global Summit will be held in India in 2027.

3.Summary of results
(1) Pioneer Activities from countries and organizations
Under the main theme of "Leveraging Coast Guard Functions to enhance Maritime Domain Awareness", the Japan Coast Guard gave a presentation titled "Rule of Law. Maritime Security", in which they emphasized that the Coast Guard, as a law enforcement agency, is the "guardian of the rule of law." In addition, 18 coast guards, including those from the United States, Italy, and India, gave presentations on their respective initiatives.
(2) Report on Coast Guard Global Human Resource Development
The progress status of the three-year plan for the online program for the Coast Guard Global Human Resource Development* was reported, and it was confirmed that the program will be further promoted and strengthened in the future. In addition, a report was given on utilization of a dedicated information sharing website, which includes information on the educational and research institutes of each coast guards, as well as uploading the educational materials of the online program. Furthermore, the Maritime Safety and Security Policy Program in Japan was introduced as a good example of Coast Guard Global Human Resource Development.
