About Us

JSPS budget for the 2023 fiscal year totals 281円.7 billion. This includes 27円.5 billion in operating expense subsidies from the National Treasury, 132円.9 billion in subsidies for Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, and 0円.5 billion for the “Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Researchers” program. Also included are the 104円.7 billion Multi-year Fund for Grants-in-Aid financed by the government and the 14円.9 billion for the Program for Promoting the Enhancement of Research Universities with a Regional Core and Distinctive Characteristics. Subsidies and grants allocated by the Government of Japan constitute 99.9% of the JSPS budget.
