From 10-21 November 2025, IDLO will join leaders, advocates, international organizations and stakeholders from around the world at the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (COP30). The annual conference will be hosted this year in Belém by the Government of Brazil.
Environmental governance that is fair, transparent and grounded in the rule of law, is essential to deliver for both people and the planet.
When the rules governing food, land, and natural resources are clear, fair and applied without discrimination, and when justice systems can resolve disputes and enforce rights effectively, it improves food security, strengthens livelihoods, and allows all members of society to participate on an equal basis.
At COP30, IDLO will share examples and recommendations from its global work and showcase how rule of law approaches can strengthen transparent and accountable management of land and natural resources, helping communities prevent conflict, strengthen trust in institutions, and create the stability needed for broad-based economic growth.
