Message from the Head of the Department
In Fundamental and Functional Nursing, we provide education in fundamental nursing, infection control nursing, and nursing management. Starting with the fundamental concepts of nursing, we support students in developing a proactive learning attitude and acquiring the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to enable people of all health levels to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives. Based on the learning of fundamental nursing, the subject and scope will be expanded in infection nursing and nursing management.
Education (Subjects)
1.Principles of Nursing
This introductory nursing course provides an academic understanding of the concept of nursing. It motivates students to study nursing as a whole by covering the fundamentals of nursing practice, including the essence of nursing, the role and functions of nursing, and nursing methodology.
2.Basic Nursing Skills(Support of Daily Living)
Students will learn fundamental, evidence-based assistance techniques for individuals with impaired daily life activities. The goal is to realize a state where people can utilize their full potential by protecting their lives (safety), supporting their daily activities (comfort), and respecting them as individuals (autonomy).
3.Career Design
Students will learn the process of designing their own careers by verbalizing their own concerns and considering how they can contribute to society. They will also reflect on themselves, envision the future they want to achieve through their work, and consider the necessary qualifications and abilities.
4.Career Design Seminar
Students will create their own practice plans to materialize their own career designs. Through these exercises, they will reflect on themselves and consider ways to get closer to the future they want to achieve.
5.Basic Nursing Skills(Medical Diagnosis and Treatment Assistance)
Students will learn infection prevention techniques common to various assistance situations and basic assistance techniques based on scientific evidence for subjects in the process of diagnosis and treatment.
6.Basic Nursing Practicum
Students will acquire basic skills for forming patient-nurse relationships while considering how to interact with patients in a manner that respects their wishes and rights. To achieve, we will observation practice daily living assistance and diagnostic and treatment-related assistance provided to patients undergoing convalescence.
7.Nursing Process and Diagnosis
Students will learn problem-solving processes for identifying the daily needs and issues of people with health problems or disabilities and providing appropriate nursing care to address those issues.
8.Physical Assessment
Students will learn physical assessment, a technique necessary for understanding a subject's health problems.They will understand the characteristics of each developmental stage and learn systematic physical examinations based on the structure and function of the human body.In addition, they will learn the process of analyzing information obtained from physical examinations to judge and predict the subject's condition.
9.Daily Living Support Practicum
Students will take charge of hospitalized patients with health problems and carry out the nursing process. Through providing care in accordance with the nursing process, students will gain an integrated understanding of the nursing subject and provide necessary and appropriate nursing care.
10.Nursing Management
Students will learn about the roles and functions of nursing management, including the basic concepts and systems of nursing management. They will also learn basic knowledge about medical safety and infection control from the perspective of quality assurance in nursing.
11.Professionalization of Nursing
This course deepens students' understanding of what it means to be a professional, explores the specialization of nursing, and teaches the roles and responsibilities expected of nurses. Students will also learn basic knowledge about the process of professional growth and career development.

Social Activities
Transitional support for new nurses:In collaboration with Dokkyo Medical University Hospital and its affiliated nursing college, we provide three years of transitional support for new nurses. This initiative is planned to continue for three years, and by having educational institutions and clinical departments work together to support the transition of new nurses, it is expected that concrete suggestions for supporting new nurses and their on-site instructors will be obtained.
Exchange meeting about your body:We create an environment where 5- to 6-year-old children living in the community can learn about the human body, and provide physical education for children and their parents.
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) :In collaboration with the Nursing Education Center for Community, we hold free exchanges of opinions on nursing research that we are currently undertaking or plan to undertake in the future, with the aim of promoting nursing research. We also provide research consultation and basic SPSS operation training.
