About debt securities
The BIS debt securities data sets cover borrowing activity in debt capital markets. They capture debt instruments designed to be traded in financial markets and distinguish between those issued in domestic and international markets. The debt securities statistics are collected by the BIS from national authorities. The international debt securities are compiled by the BIS using security-level data from commercial vendors.

A new dataset on government bonds by currency, combining BIS statistics on bonds outstanding with publicly available series on foreign holdings. The dataset has been compiled for research purposes: for dashboards and analysis, see BIS Working Paper 1075.
