Call for Papers on Policy Lessons for a Post-COVID-19 Recovery

Introduction

The National Economics University (NEU) in Hanoi, Vietnam, and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI in Tokyo, Japan) are delighted to announce our joint international conference on "Policy Lessons for a post-COVID 19 Recovery", which will be held in at ADBI in Tokyo on 7-8 March 2024. This international conference aims to draw lessons about effective policy responses to maintain economic stability and growth in Asian developing and emerging economies, with a special emphasis on economic, business and wellbeing issues in the course of recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic as well as in response to geopolitical turbulence and shocks around the world.

Topics

We cordially invite the submission of original research contributions encompassing a wide spectrum of topics. Suggested paper topic areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Monetary policy responses
  • Fiscal policy responses
  • Trade impacts
  • The role of digitalization in addressing economic shocks
  • Public health policy
  • Government transfer programs
  • Support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs)

The accepted papers will be considered for presentations at the conference, and then for publication in a special journal issue to be announced later, tentatively scheduled for winter 2024 / spring 2025.

Submission Procedure

Authors are requested to submit their draft papers in English of 3,000–5,000 words or long abstracts via email to [email protected] no later than 15 January 2024.

Papers should include a description of the research background, methodology, data, results, and evidence-based policy recommendations. Please also provide the name, affiliation, position, and email of each author, and clearly indicate the corresponding author.

All papers must be original or review work that has neither been published nor currently under review by any journal, conference, or outlet.

Important Dates

Interested authors are kindly requested to note the following important dates:

  • 15 January 2024: Paper or long abstract submission deadline
  • 21 January 2024: Announcement of accepted abstracts/papers
  • 7–8 March 2024: Conference dates
  • May–August 2024: Reviews for selecting papers for a special issue
  • 30 September 2024: Announcement of accepted papers
  • December 2024: Publication of the special issue

Publication

The accepted papers will be invited for presentation at the conference, and then considered for publication in a special issue of Journal of Economics & Development (Scopus). The accepted papers will also have another chance to be published in a special ISI/Scopus journal issue to be announced later, tentatively scheduled for winter 2024/ spring 2025.

Travel Arrangements

Limited travel support will be available. The travel costs of one author per paper may be covered.
