Place: KEK, Building #3, Seminar Hall
The KEK symposium "Towards precision QCD physics --- dedicated to the memory of Jiro Kodaira" has been held at KEK on Saturday, March 10th, 2007.
Since Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) was established as the fundamental theory of strong interaction in mid-70s, there have been enormous number of experimental data that support its validity. They include the early fixed-target experiments that proved the existence of quarks inside hadrons and the most recent gigantic collider experiments at HERA, Tevatron and so on. Despite such a long history, the theoretical QCD --- the perturbative QCD to be specific --- remains an active field of research, aiming at improving the precision of its predictions. This symposium covered the history of perturbative QCD and its future perspectives in the era of LHC.
Jiro Kodaira, former professor of KEK, passed away suddenly on 16 September 2006 in Tsukuba. This symposium was dedicated to the memory of his scientific works as well as his generous personality. Jiro made significant contributions to perturbative QCD, and he was planning even more ambitious project, which was unfortunately not realized.
The scientific program of the symposium consists of invited talks. The confirmed speakers are announced below.
Update on Mar. 2: For those who cannot attend the Symposium but wish to send some messages, we would like to accept written messages which will be shown at the Symposium. Please send them via e-mail to kekqcd@suchix.kek.jp by the morning of Friday, Mar 9 (Japan time).
Update on Mar. 20: Presentation slides are available below.
Update on Mar. 5: The scientific program has been finalized.
Update on Mar.5: Here are some practical information for the participants.
Here is the list of invited speakers and their titles.

Registration has already been closed. But we still accept late registrations. Please send a simple registration form via e-mail to kekqcd@suchix.kek.jp.
The most convenient hotel is the Okura Frontier Hotel Tsukuba, as the symposium reception will be held there in the evening after the scientific sessions. Another convenient hotel is the Hotel Grand Shinonome. Japanese participants may reserve a room by themselves. The reservations for the foreign participants will be made by the organizers. Please send an e-mail to kekqcd@suchix.kek.jp with your check-in and check-out dates and room preferences (smoking or non-smoking, single or twin, etc).
The KEK dorms may also be used if available. For reservations, please send a form to kekqcd@suchix.kek.jp. (Sorry. we assume that you can read/write Japanese language.) If you have not yet done so, you will need to fill out other forms that will be sent to you after we receive the above form. The reservation will be made on the first-come-first-served principle. This means that you should send the form earlier than the registration deadline.
