Through the fusion of research groups in a diverse range of scientific and technological fields and through the research activities based in displays of researcher's creativity, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) contributes to the economic development of Japan as well as to the improvement of the citizens by creating new technology seeds, increasing industry technological power and developing new industries. Units of AIST are located at 10 research bases, from Hokkaido to Kyushu. AIST Hokkaido has Bioproduction Research Institute and Energy Process Research Institute. Also, the Collaboration Affairs Office exists in order to promote collaboration with industry, academia, and regional governments.
