Re-examination of "unusual" type of leaves 1) Research description: There are a lot of "unusual" leaves and stems on the earth. Previously we only could describe their uniqueness based on comparative morphology, but nowadays we have many hints to understand the background/mechanisms of their uniqueness from our knowledges on developmental genetics on model plants such as Arabidopsis. Yet, we need some basic data on them before applying techniques of molecular genetics to them. During this program, we wish to reexamine one or a few species of unusual leaves/stems from a developmental poit of view to get clues for further studies. |
