METI Holds Award Ceremony for Winner of Space Development and Utilization Grand Prize

On March 27 (Fri.), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry conferred a certificate of commendation and a commemorative item to the winner of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Award of the Fourth Space Development and Utilization Grand Prize.
1. Outline of Space Development and Utilization Grand Prize
The Space Development and Utilization Grand Prize is intended to contribute to further progress in space development and utilization activities, and to foster awareness and understanding of space development and utilization among the Japanese people by commending projects that have made significant contributions to the promotion of those activities through pioneering efforts. This prize, which was launched in the fiscal year of 2013, and has been awarded every other year. The current fiscal year marks the fourth award since its launch.
2. Winning Project
Winner: Ridge-i Inc.
Description of the winning project: A project to conduct AI analysis of satellite data, including the detection of landslide disasters.
