Economic & Industrial Policy

Aiming to encourage companies to introduce teleworking into their working styles, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) will collect and convey information on teleworking-related measures as responses to the government’s measures against the novel coronavirus disease and that on activities of companies in the information communication industry for supporting their workers.

Teleworking is an effective means for preventing the novel coronavirus disease from expanding in the workplace.

MIC, MHLW, METI and MLIT have been developing a variety of measures for encouraging companies to introduce teleworking into their working styles. The Second Batch of the Emergency Measures against the Novel Coronavirus Disease, newly compiled by the Novel Coronavirus Response Headquarters on March 10, 2020, stipulates a goal that “Japan should strongly promote teleworking and establish this new working-style as a role model.” Based on this policy, the ministries will collect and convey information on respective ministries’ teleworking-related measures and that on activities of companies in the information communication industry for supporting their workers in introducing teleworking into their working styles.
