Manufacturing, Information, and Distribution/Service Policy

To highlight outstanding enterprises engaging in efforts to advance health and productivity management, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has designed the Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program as an initiative held by the Health Investment Working Group of the Next-Generation Healthcare Industrial Council, a body holding joint meetings with the Health and Productivity Management 500 Working Group of the Nippon Kenko Kaigi* and the SME Ten-Thousand Health-Declaration Working Group.

METI hereby announces that on March 2, 2020, the Nippon Kenko Kaigi has recognized 1,481 organizations under the large enterprise category, among which 500 were recognized as “White 500” organizations, and 4,723 organizations under the SME category as the FY2020 recognized organizations.

Outline of the recognition program

Under the recognition program, the Nippon Kenko Kaigi examines large enterprises, SMEs and other organizations engaging in initiatives for overcoming health-related challenges in communities or for promoting health-conscious activities led by the Nippon Kenko Kaigi, and recognizes outstanding enterprises engaging in efforts for health and productivity management.

This program endeavors to highlight outstanding enterprises engaging in efforts to advance health and productivity management and thereby aims to develop an environment in which such enterprises are able to gain enhanced social recognition, e.g., from employees, employment seekers, related enterprises and financial institutions, as organizations engaging in strategic health and productivity management efforts for maintaining their employees’ health from a management perspective.

The Nippon Kenko Kaigi has been promoting eight declarations collectively titled “2020 Declarations for Achieving Health-Conscious Communities and Workplaces,” including Declaration 4 “Encouraging over 500 organizations to engage in the health and productivity management program in collaboration with health insurance society members and other associations” and Declaration 5 “Encouraging over 30,000 organizations to engage in health-conscious management declaration efforts based on the support of Japan Health Insurance Association members and other associations.” In light of this, the recognition program also aims to help the Nippon Kenko Kaigi achieve Declarations 4 and 5.

This program has been conducted as one of the efforts based on the Action Plan of the Growth Strategy, which was established in June 2019.

On March 2, 2020, under the fourth recognition program, the Nippon Kenko Kaigi has recognized 1,481 organizations under the large enterprise category, among which 500 were recognized as “White 500” organizations, and 4,723 organizations under the SME category as the FY2020 recognized organizations.

For names and other details of the recognized organizations, see the Appendices.

*Note: The Nippon Kenko Kaigi is an organization that takes practical community- and workplace-based actions, under collaboration among private organizations and with full administrative support, to extend healthy lifespans and to provide appropriate medical care, targeting individual persons in Japan, a country facing a dramatically advancing aging society with fewer children.

The organization aims to encourage workplaces and communities to undertake specific measures to overcome health-related challenges under collaboration among private organizations, e.g., economic associations, medical-care associations and insurers, and municipalities.
