What is web accessibility?
Web accessibility means that all people—regardless of physical disability, age, or access environment—can use the information and service offered on a website. It is a way of managing a website that works to ensure that anyone can access the information equally.
RIKEN web accessibility policy
In order to ensure that all users an easily acquire information, efforts are being made to improve the accessibility of RIKEN’s websites based on JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) X8341‐3:2016, "Guidelines for older persons and persons with disabilities, Part 3: Web content." Which are based on the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0).
In FY2017, work was done to determine the state of web accessibility on RIKEN sites, determine the challenges that we need to work on, formulate guidelines, and conduct training sessions for RIKEN employees. In the future, we plan to conduct evaluations to determine whether RIKEN websites are in conformity with the AA level compatibility. Based on the results of the evaluation, we will work on changing and improving RIKEN's websites.
