Prof. Patrick Wolfe, Director of UCL Big Data Institute, visited to ISM
Prof. Patrick Wolfe, Director of University College London (UCL) Big Data Institute (BDI), visited to The Institute of Statistical Mathematics (ISM) on February 23rd, 2015.
Prof. Wolfe discussed on the preparation of signing the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and farther research collaboration plans with Prof. Higuchi, Director-General of ISM at first. Then Prof. Higuchi guided Prof. Wolfe to the facilities tour. After that, Prof. Fukumizu, Director of the Research Center for Statistical Machine Learning, Prof. Ito, Associate Profs. Ikeda and Mochihashi had a presentation of their each research project and discussion with Prof. Wolfe in the afternoon. Through these opportunities to know research activities at ISM, Prof. Wolfe seemed to look forward to promoting academic exchange more between BDI and ISM.
ISM and BDI have signed the MOA. The Signing Ceremony was held in the "Innovation is Great, the UK-Japan Big Data Workshop 2015" at The National Institute of Informatics, on Feb.26th.2015. ISM and BDI will promote effective research to solve crucial social problems in the Big Data era.
