Get Started with Shorts templates

Shorts templates let you recreate videos by giving you a framework for your Short. This framework includes the length and number of video clips, and other elements like text, music, and effects in the Short. Templates make it easy to take inspiration from your favorite videos to create new content faster.

Create a template

Eligible Shorts can be used as templates by other creators by default. Your Short may be eligible for a template if it contains, among other conditions:

• Remixable audio
• Multiple video clips
• Text segments

If you don’t want your Shorts to be eligible for templates, you can opt out of Shorts remixing.

Create Shorts using a template

1. Sign in to the YouTube app on mobile.
2. Go to the Short you want to use as a template.
3. Tap Remix and then Use this template .
   • Tip: Or on the Short video, tap Use template .
4. Add your clips to the template and create your Short.
