The Research Center for Global Language Education will close on March 31, 2023.
The Research Center for Global Language Education was established in 2018, succeeding operations of the Research Center for Japanese Language Education founded in 1991. It engaged in language education research through the publication of the bulletin ICU Studies in Japanese Language Education and development of teaching materials and methods, as well as implementing the Summer Courses in Japanese. Since its operations will be integrated with that of the College of Liberal Arts, it will be closed on March 31, 2023.
Related offices within the College will take over the operations of the Center. The Japanese Language Programs will take the lead in creating a successor to the ICU Studies in Japanese Language Education. Backissues can be retrieved and downloaded from the ICU Repository.Each language program and research center will succeed various research on teaching materials and methods in language education.
As of academic year 2023, Summer Courses in Japanese will be reborn as the ICU International Summer Program in Japan, which will focus on Japanese language education and Japanese studies. The Center for Global Education to open on April 1 will be in charge of this program.
