  I've been using WinMerge for likely 20+ years now, close to its original release. Just a terrific product and extremely fast and stable. I've never experienced a single bug with this app which is extremely rare for any product, and I've been a heavy-duty user since day 1 (a very experienced C++ developer myself). Flashier apps may exist by now with more bells and whistles (though WinMerge already offers a lot), but if you're looking for a basic side-by-side comparison product, it does a great job (and yes, you can plug it in 3rd-party apps like Visual Studio for instance to do Git comparisons). I don't care how old it is now, newer isn't always better (often less stable in fact), and WinMerge will be my go-to app for a long time to come yet. Strongly recommend it.

  Turn on word wrapping. Then it is perfect! An improvement over linux diff and Windiff. Nice color highlighting of paragraph where difference occurs and what the differences are.

  WinMerge is absolutely indispensible – not only for developers. If you are just a regular computer user and realize that your colleagues have created several copies of a file (or even a whole folder), WinMerge helps you quickly find the differences (if any).

  I am a utilitiophile. And I have a core group that I keep close at hand because they just work, they perform specific tasks and they make my life better. I can go on about how much this has improved since Gen-Zero, but all that is unnecessary. I find it invaluable.

  I have been using Notepad++ for years along with certain plugins I thought I could not do without. I had been using the compare plugin for Notepad++ and have always found it clunky and hard to configure to where it makes any sense at all. Someone suggested WinMerge and all I can say is WOW. This is exactly what the Notepad++ Compare plugin should be. From this point forward I will be using WinMerge when it comes to comparing large documents. I send out weekly price sheets for refurbished systems and these documents change from week to week. WinMerge has made updating the latest pricelist easy as can be, whereas before it was a HUGE problem using Notepad++ compare. I went from 30-40 minutes making changes to less than 5 minutes making changes. That's a timesaver and believe it or not time really is money.

  Does everything as advertised. Download it, run it, do what you need! No mess, no fuss. I'm so grateful for NO pain-in-the-arse-ware I've made a dontation. It wasn't much but words weren't enough to describe my delight at the absence of adverts, sneeky signup lists, nag-ware, etc Cheers.

  I never had to try support, so there should be a NA choice for each row (this is for sourceforge, not the program under review).
