Heh, it's funny, people wonder why there aren't more women in CS and things like homebrew coding... http://dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=53971 It's good to see the programming forums bustling though :) On 2014 Jun 21, at 11:21 PM, Lawrence Sebald wrote: > DCEmulation is still around as well (although at dcemulation.org instead of .com). DCEmulation is still around as well (although at dcemulation.org instead of .com). I think I probably talked with him too. I can't remember his name now though. But he actually called me up to ask about how the PowerVR stuff was reverse engineered. Let me tell you, that was a scary phone call. ^^; And yeah, he seemed interested in the notion of using the homebrew tools as a kind of low-powered, unofficial hobby dev kit. I originally wanted to release KOS under the GPL, and there was a big to-do because it wasn't friendly for combining with commercial software. (Which, come to think of it, might've included add-ons that they released, if they released any.) I changed course and re-released what I had under the current license. They were surprised I could do that, and I explained it's because no one had contributed to it under the very short lived GPL licensed copy. Anyway, yeah, more secret history :) On 2014 Jun 21, at 6:29 PM, Karl Koscher wrote: > Since everyone is coming out of the woodwork now, I thought I'd impart of a little bit of Dreamcast history that never was. > > Way back in the day, someone at Sega (a VP, I think) called me about my participation on this mailing list. Since everyone is coming out of the woodwork now, I thought I'd impart of a little bit of Dreamcast history that never was. Way back in the day, someone at Sega (a VP, I think) called me about my participation on this mailing list. Same as pretty much everyone except BlueCrab, in lurking mode due to lack of time. What little free time I do have I've put into other (personal) projects. I *really* want to try to get back to KOS at some point though. I will say, it's cool to see a fair amount of people still lurking. Another lurker here ! Nice to hear something from Dan again I also deeply appreciate the commits that are still done, even though I'm not using KOS at the moment. I'm still playing with Dreamcast programming from time to time, so it's always nice to see fellow comrades ^_^ T. On 20/06/2014 17:04, Donald Haase wrote: > Also a lurker. Also a lurker. I have to get off my ass and make at least one commit some time. I do have a rewritten keyboard driver, but I'd have to re-rewrite it since Blue already did some mods to the current one. Still lurking. Haven't done much DC coding since high school (!?) but I keep hoping I'll find time to get into it again someday. lurking mode too ;) wayy back in time I did some demos but not more. I just wanted to stop by and say that I think it's so cool that you guys are still working on all this stuff, and how many nice things have been added to KOS over the years. :) I'm not working on it anymore, but I'm watching the commits still. It's really come a long way!
kos-ports still contains the same SDL that has been there for a while (patched to the point where it should still work). I believe that many people have used nullDC to debug KOS programs with various versions out of the SVN repository and Git repository on the way to 2.0.0, so I'd assume that everything still works fine to debug them using nullDC. I haven't tried, as I don't run Windows myself. - Lawrence On May 27, 2013, at 8:50 PM, Da Gamer <gam...@ya...> wrote: > Two questions. > > One, is there or will there be a SDL or SFML or Allegro for KOS 2.0? > > Two, how well do KOS 2-made apps work on the Dreamcast emulators? Two questions. One, is there or will there be a SDL or SFML or Allegro for KOS 2.0? Two, how well do KOS 2-made apps work on the Dreamcast emulators?
