It has been a terribly exhausting couple of months, both from professional and creative angles — work and uni have been grinding me to death, making me pretty much incapable of writing anything. But! This is an attempt at finally regaining my spark. Big thanks to Uncle Nicolini Uncle Nicolini for helping me re-ignite it.
Another thanks to Jasiu06 Jasiu06 | Diogene_s Diogene_s | UNCGriffin UNCGriffin | Lemonsense Lemonsense | psychicprogrammer psychicprogrammer | Luxaiko Luxaiko | Dino--Draws Dino--Draws for checking this out before we posted!
Big fan of how you decided to end this. GoI formats more like Joy formats amirite.
Still absolutely gnawing on all the Science (tm) in this something about the wordings scratches an itch in my brain
+1, old man jumpscare
Also I know what you are don’t you even THINK you can sneak a House of Leaves reference past me bestie <3
You know a Prometheus-format article is good when Ralliston is involved.
There's a lot of stuff I enjoy here, such as the Cold War background and the clear-but-still-technical-looking science, but what I love the most is how ridiculously confident you make these people sound; how they say all chance of failure is "bordering on improbable." It's so silly. I knew they're gonna screwed this up right from the start, but seeing how oblivious they are during the whole article makes it so much funnier. Really good stuff!
Oh also, I really like the use of the "Attached Documents" section. It's a cool addition to the format! +1
As I was reading the proposal it seriously bugged me how they just wrote off these other realities as completely empty and uninhabited. The reason for Prometheus' bankruptcy is fully on display here.
This nails Prometheus’ mix of optimism and catastrophe. The pivot from "we unleashed a nightmare" to "but think of the military applications!" is bleak comedy gold.
