At the heart of IUBS’s mission lies the initiation, facilitation, and coordination of research and scientific endeavors that demand international, interdisciplinary collaboration. IUBS supports for the triennium international collaborative scientific programs in close partnership with our Ordinary and Scientific Members
In order to facilitate the implementation of future Scientific Programmes, IUBS supports projects, which prepare transnational research, with the aid of its Ordinary and Scientific Members. IUBS welcomes suggestions for new Initiatives, which are in the scope of IUBS activities.
IUBS Centenary Webinar Series brings the best of all disciplines to discuss evolution, taxonomy, ecology, biodiversity, and other topics that represent unified biology and the topics of prime importance to address contemporary problems.
The Executive Committee acts on the decisions made by the General Assembly to fulfill the objectives of the IUBS. The current Executive Committee was elected at the 34th General Assembly in Tokyo, Japan on 12th March 2023.
IUBS is committed to fostering the active involvement of Early Career scientists across its programmes. In line with this commitment, IUBS offers financial support to invite early career scientists in conferences.
IUBS General Assembly took place in Bangalore, India from 9th to 13th June 2026 with Pavan Sukhdev as keynote speaker, and Soumya Swaminathan, Vandana Prasad, and Teatulohi Matainaho as plenary speakers. Symposia on the following themes were organized: ‘One Health,’ ‘Technology to Map and Monitor Biodiversity,’ ‘Chemical Ecology in the Anthropocene,’ ‘Science for Conservation Policies in Africa,’ ‘Precision Agriculture,’ ‘Marine/Mangrove Conservation,’ ‘Pastoralism,’ and ‘Science Forum, the Rio Conventions and the Intergovernmental Scientific Bodies (IPBES, IPCC).’ IUBS members also elected the new Executive Committee and agreed on the scientific programmes that will be developed during the upcoming triennium.
