fpp in Fortran Wiki

**fpp** or FPP may refer to one of many Fortran [[Preprocessors|preprocessors]]:
* [[GFortran]] invokes cpp, the C preprocessor, running in "traditional mode."
 (See [Enable and customize preprocessing](https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gfortran/Preprocessing-Options.html) in the [[GFortran]] manual). It's main limitation is the lack of support for variadic macros.
* The [[Intel Fortran compiler]] ships with the Intel Fortran preprocessor,
 called fpp. (See
 [Can I Invoke fpp from the command line?](http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-fortran-compiler-for-linux-can-i-invoke-fpp-from-the-command-line/)
 in the Intel Fortran knowledge base.)
* The Nvidia compiler (previously PGI) also comes with a preprocessor. (See [Command-Line Options](https://docs.nvidia.com/hpc-sdk/compilers/hpc-compilers-ref-guide/index.html#d-uc) in the reference manual.)
* The [[NAG Fortran compiler]] provides a Fortran preprocessor.

 but is no longer available.
* A Fortran [[Preprocessors|preprocessor]] written by Sun and made available
 on [[Netlib]] at <http://www.netlib.org/fortran/>.
 A [thread](http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.fortran/browse_thread/thread/4531582258920f1a/)
 on [[comp.lang.fortran]] describes the modified version by Martin Wilck which
 uses autoconf.
* Nelson Beebe's [fpp](http://www.math.utah.edu/~beebe/software/fpp/fpp.html), inspired by the C-preprocessor. Preprocessing directives are written as Fortran comments. All directives of cpp are supported, with the exception of #include.
