On November 25, the final of Third Northeastern University Foreign Student Chinese Competition was held. This competition, themed as "Listen to my Chinese, Show my Talents" was a visual and audio banquet for the audience. 14 contestants from 8 countries attracted the judges and audience by combining special charm of Chinese and their performing talents.
This competition is much more promoted compared to the previous two competitions in terms of the number of participants and competition scale. The competition was divided into two preliminary and final parts. The preliminary competition included written exam, speech and answering the judges’ questions. The top 15 contestants entered the final competition. In the final competition, the contestants not only gave excellent speech in Chinese but also show their performing talents.
In the final, the eldest contestant is over the age of 60 and the youngest younger than 16. Their participation is purely out of their true love for Chinese language. In addition to singing and dancing, participants also showed their Taijiquan, paper cutting, storytelling, calligraphy, tongue twister, imitation show, etc. Clement Charwey from Ghana and Songyong Kim from North Korea won the first prize.
The competition actively promotes the foreign students’ extracurricular activities and helps examine the education of foreign students in our university.
