Hey, sorry if the answer to this is already somewhere on the site but I couldn't seem to find it.
So those of you who use the chat will know "Nala" is the bot used on most (all?) of the SCP IRC chat servers, created by Mackenzie I believe. In this tale she is a human secretary (maybe that's just where the name came from?).
Anyway, my question is: does Nala as an AI exist in-universe? Obviously with more functionality than just googling things. It would be pretty cool to see how she would interact with certain agents, Doctors and SCPs - particularly SCP-079, at least in a Tale or two. Or what if she was actually developed using modified samples of 079 and other computer-y SCPs like 1073?
Just a thought, might be some interesting material there.
I believe she does serve as a AI member of the Overwatch Council in the Classical Revival stories.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
The O5’s, as of Interlude 1, are:
• O5-1: "Crom" - The first of the three original Overseers.
• O5-2: "Nala"
• O5-3: "Grape"
I see, that's pretty much all it says about her though. Is she even an AI here or human? It doesn't say.
What Roget said. Also, iirc, Nala was the name of a character Aelanna wrote before joining. References to Nala are cameos, and so she's basically whatever tickles the author's fancy at the moment.
Pretty sure Nala was in the lion king or something too, but I think that was a coincidence.
if your reading this your gay
Nala was named after Nalanna Geriaa, a precognitive engineer from my Starspheres/TDZK stories that imprinted her mind into the crystal core of a starship before she died. The similarity to the character from Lion King was pure coincidence, though the fact that her holographic avatar is represented as a blonde catgirl is not.
In-universe, Dr. Rachel Mackenzie is a high-level observer and initial-containment specialist that either works with, created, or otherwise customized Nala's functionality to assist in the task of cataloging and cross-referencing SCP objects and discovering insights into how they work so as to produce more sophisticated and effective containment procedures.
All of this is purely headcanon, of course, as I've never written Nala into anything.
I really like that picture. (I wish my computer had a nice umbrella like that to block the spams)
