When I write things, I usually take three "buzzwords" and throw them together to create a concept. For SCP-2714, I threw together "Sarckism", "Tintin", and "loser".
My challenge is to try this writing style on your own skip. Pick three terms from the list below and create a concept out of them. Then write it up. Make them as strange and random as you want. Or pick three similar terms. It's up to you and it's that easy! Make sure to only pick three, and only pick one "Foundation lore" word if you choose to go that way.
Your list of "buzzwords" to choose from include:
- website
- Monty Python
- playing card
- Herman Fuller and his Circus
- surrealism
- sports jock
- desk
- Timbuktu
- sleep
- weasel
- gravity
- Rene Magritte
- hip hop
- rubber
- Pixar
- entropy
- Renaissance Faire
- carpet
- 1970s
- empathy
- Serpent's Hand
- priest
- small town diner
- Adelaide, Australia
- drone
- comedy
- Mobile Taskforce
- Robert A. Heinlein
- IKEA
- pencil
- Darwinism
- vinyl
- quantum physics
- moray eel
- breast milk
- suitcase
- happiness
- Alexvya University
- dragonfish
- antimemetic
- troll (fantasy)
- troll (internet)
- Northwest Territories
- backyard
- The Jungle Book
- corn
- python
- arousal
- Chaos Insurgency
- bricks
- Zen
- fury
- impeding doom
- stupidity
- vole
- MDMA
EDIT: Thanks Zyn!
And now it's your turn.
Oh, you just have to give me more things to write about…
By the powers of Stonefish, I select the following: "Timbuktu", "suitcase" and "priest". Will get back to you when this becomes a thing.
EDIT: Can the buzzwords be reused? As in, can another person pick one/two buzzword(s) that I used and one/two others that I did not use?
Yes, more than one person can pick a buzzword, but I'd rather people pick differing ones.
I don't want to see eight skips on "happiness" for example.
> sees "weasel", "small town diner", and "zen"
> writes up happy little SCP article about Foundationverse-equivalent Uchiha Itachi eating dango with Izumi at some traditional teahouse in the afterlife ;-;
I'd rather people pick differing ones
Consider implementing some sort of randomizer, like a dice roll or number generator? Then people can have fun with the randomness and not agonize over having to choose (did you know that when people are confronted with many choices in a shopping decision, they are less likely to purchase than when they have a few choices I think that's how the experiment went I may have forgotten it's been two quarters).
That would work, but I'm not sure how to implement it. Plus with a truly random generator, there's the chance that the same buzzword would appear, leading to 10 "MDMA" skips, for example.
Also I adore your concept, go ahead with it! I'd love to see it.
That would work, but I'm not sure how to implement it.

8,- Choose or roll again.
If you added (or removed) options in order to make the total number have only factors of 2,3,4,6,8,10 or 20 then you wouldn't need the wild result, but it is workable either way (with four more, you could do 1d6,1d10 for example).
Plus with a truly random generator, there's the chance that the same buzzword would appear, leading to 10 "MDMA" skips, for example.
That's easy : "If you get the same result, roll again."
You remember right- they're also less satisfied if they do make a purchase, even if they ordinarily would prefer that choice anyway. One of those fun little "people are weird" things.
"Ikea," "surrealism," and "Mobile Task Force."
…
There's potential here, but I may be too blind to see it.
Randomly chosen:
- gravity
- 1970s
- comedy
…Goodie Goodie gumdrops.
If it was 80s, there already is the one with the lost Fresh Prince of Bel Air episodes…
I know! My first thought was SCP-2251. However, since this is the 70s… surreal comedy meeting prolonged economic downturns… I have plans.
Small town diner, Surreal, Quatum Mechanics,
…..hmm……
Schrödinger's Diner anyone ?
