Welcome to my homepage. I am a scholar of international relations and political economy, with a particular interest in international organizations, the politics of crises, the politics of energy and the environment, and the politics of East Asia, particularly Japan. I am the author of Renegotiating the World Order: Institutional Change in International Relations, from Cambridge University Press. I am also co-editor of The Political Economy of the Abe Government and Abenomics Reforms and Japan under the DPJ: The Politics of Transition and Governance. At the University of Toronto, I am the inaugural director of the Centre for the Study of Global Japan, and I am also Richard Charles Lee Director of the Asian Institute. I also co-organize the Japanese Politics Online Seminar Series and serve as co-editor-in-chief of the Japanese Journal of Political Science.
