the current release is 0.84, which i consider a ``milestone'' version.
that is, while it is far from perfect, it is a release that every should
upgrade to and was the last break before a substantial number of
changes.
i hope that 0.9 will be the next milestone. there will be an 0.88 in
the next week or two which can be treated as an 0.9 alpha test release.
0.88 will probably be much less stable than 0.84 or 0.9, so not everyone
will upgrade, i expect.
