Description: SCP-CN-1831 is a black coil incense in the shape of an Archimedean spiral with a pointy end. The object has an average diameter of 12 centimeters and weighs 16 grams. When ignited, the object would burn slowly and release a fast-diffusing gas (categorized as SCP-CN-1831-1) while producing a small amount of white ashes in the process. SCP-CN-1831 is insoluble in water, and investigations into its chemical composition are still ongoing.
When a human individual inhales a certain volume of SCP-CN-1831-1, his behaviors and physiological characteristics would show abnormal changes and transformations depending on the amount of gas inhaled. The abnormal effects are listed below:

A pair of appendages develop at the posterior thorax and a pair of wings develop at the back of the subject. All of these new organs are showing characteristics of an arthropod. Other new organs such as proboscis, compound eyes and exoskeleton are also developed. The human characteristics degrades gradually. However, the subject believes that the above-mentioned transformations are nothing abnormal. |
| 1000-1500ml | The physiological structure of the subject begins to demonstrate abnormality. The respiratory, reproductive and digestive organs of the subject are transformed into organs equivalent to those of a mosquito's. The physical posture of the subject also reshapes, with the head and the chest adjoined, and the torso and bones resembling a mosquito. The total volume of the subject is relatively unchanged. A few human characteristics remain such as facial characteristics. Plasmodium is found in a majority of test subjects at this point, with Yellow Fever and Dengue virus found in a few subjects. The discovery of these above-mentioned aetiologies is irrelevant to the fact that most of the test subjects do not carry them at the beginning. |
| >1500ml | Herpes zosters begin to develop in large quantities on the torso of the subject, and the subject loses body fluid severely. The extremities of the subject slowly burn, diffusing SCP-CN-1831-1. The subject would be unconscious, however, he would also try to approach other human individuals to spread SCP-CN-1831-1 subconsciously. After approximately one hundred and twenty (120) seconds, the torso of the subject disintegrates, causing death. The remains of the subject would continue to burn and it cannot be stopped by physical means of cooling. |
When two (2) or more human individuals are present within seven (7) meters radius of SCP-CN-1831, the object will ignite simultaneously and release SCP-CN-1831-1. If less than two (2) human individuals are present or all human individuals in the area have inhaled at least 1500ml of SCP-CN-1831-1, then the object will stop burning and restore to its initial condition. The combustion velocity of SCP-CN-1831 is proportional to the number of human individuals present.
