What is DigiCheck NG?

DigiCheck NG ("Next Generation") is RME’s completely rewritten audio analysis suite, available for macOS (using Apple Metal) and Windows. It provides highly precise metering, analysis, and visual tools in a fully resizable, modular interface. It’s tightly integrated with RME interfaces via direct hardware communication for extremely accurate measurements with minimal CPU usage.

Supported Platforms & Compatibility

  • macOS: Runs on macOS 10.15 or later and requires Metal‐capable hardware.
  • Windows: Officially available in beta form (v0.61 and up), including support for ARM64‐based Windows 11 systems as of early 2025.
  • Requires an RME audio interface; DigiCheck only works with RME hardware due to proprietary FPGA‐based hardware metering

Core Modules

DigiCheck NG uses modular "instruments" which can be arranged in 1–4 panes per window (and multiple windows possible). All windows are freely resizable and fully customizable, layouts can be saved as workspaces.

  • Two‐Channel Level Meter (Peak & RMS, phase correlation, long‐term peak hold, color‐coded warning thresholds)
  • Multi‐Channel Level Meter (up to 8 channels simultaneously)
  • Global Level Meter (all interface channels overview)
  • Spectral Analyzer (real‐time FFT frequency display)
  • Vector Audio Scope (phase/goniometer visualization)
  • Totalyser (combining Spectral Analyzer, Level Meter, and Vector Scope in one window)
  • Surround Meter with R128 loudness display
  • Oscilloscope (DSO‐style instrument for waveform display, with triggers, afterglow, multi‐channel support)

VU Meters
Introduced in DigiCheck NG v0.92 beta (December 2024) as a frequently requested feature. Provide classic VU ballistics, showing averaged loudness rather than instantaneous peaks—ideal for evaluating subjective volume and dynamics.

DigiCheck NG is available free to users of supported RME hardware.
