It seems not. Couldn't find anything in the docs or in the source.
Changed the declaration of luaM_realloc_ to this:

LUAI_FUNC void *luaM_realloc_ (lua_State *L, void *block, size_t oldsize,
                                                          size_t size) __attribute__((returns_nonnull));

And tested again, to no avail.
