Ok, I did (if necessary or not)
 1. switch to my admin account
 2. de-installed Lua for Windows 5.1.4.18 <http://5.1.4.18>
 3. kicked all the "\VirtualStore\Program Files\Lua\" garbage into
 the trash.
 4. switch to my normal user account
 5. re-installed Lua for Windows 5.1.4.18 <http://5.1.4.18> (I have
to start the setup "as admin" to success, by the way)
This should not be, except for the VC 8.0 run-time. I need more details. This install has been tested on a limit-user XP machine many times. Any details would be very helpful.

Hi Ryan,
to give you some more details,
I de-installed LfW once again.
My Vista-Box ask me for admin right automatically.
The de-installation was (as always) done without any obvious problems.
I start the 5.1.4.18 setup then (without admin rights) and end with this
(access denied)
May I have a someway broken normal vista user account, don't know, but don't think so. To create a directory below c:\program files\ "by hand", I need admin privileges too. Intentionally, I think. Please ask for (and probably specify the kind of) more details if needed. Be patient I have to spend the next hours to sleep and work.
Frank
