Ground-based monitoring stations (Hateruma / Cape Ochiishi)
We have global environmental monitoring stations on Hateruma Island in Okinawa and Cape Ochishi in Hokkaido.
Automatic measurements for atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHGs) have been conducted precisely at Hateruma since 1993 and at Cape Ochishi since 1995.
Observed data at these monitoring stations are expected to show the typical variations of GHGs in the Northern mid-latitudes.
In particular, since the stations are located off the coast of Eurasian continent, GHG emissions in East Asia can be captured and are utilized in various inverse analysis studies.
