Hello, fellow Wikidotter!
Since you're here, I thought I'd ask a question: Why do you use Wikidot?
To be specific: What features does Wikidot have, that make you use it over [competitor]?
Let's discuss what makes Wikidot unique!
…
Oh, and the blog is now getting the Bootstrap CSS facelift that the Forum and Homepage have had for a while. Let me know your thoughts!

From my personal point of view, what I like about Wikidot:
- Extremely flexible modules, like ListPages, make it more of an application building framework than just a simple wiki farm / site builder.
- The community is (or, was) very welcoming and willing to work together to build useful things that push the platform further.
- Good starting point for people that don't know coding/development, but want the power to create something really powerful.

I use Wikidot for all the reasons you mention. I run a digital library and information hub, and Wikidot turned out to be just perfect for that.
ME TOO!!!

Yes! Something is far more enjoyable to use if you have a sense of achievement, especially in the first few minutes of using it. I recall building some of my first websites here, and it was exciting to see it gradually get better and better.

Wikidot is a very special, one-of-a-kind platform. I'm continually grateful for finding it. A couple of key strengths that I really appreciate:
- Owners/developers: Created an awesome service and made it very powerful. For well over a decade, the core product hasn't really been tampered with in any negative ways. Not greedy or evil. This is a big deal and very rare in the world of web services. I haven't had to worry about them doing something stupid that would break everything I've put so much time into.
- NOTE/update: In recent years, sadly, customer support from the Wikidot team has been severely lacking. This is a cause for concern and possibly a reason why not to use Wikidot. It would make a big difference if the developers demonstrated their commitment via improved responsiveness and being more visible.
- Community: Always been a great resource, especially for beginners. Dedicated volunteers.
- Capabilities: Extremely flexible system. Let's the creator decide how to build what they want without too much of a rigid framework or limitations.
While most of this is true, I don't think the customer or user experience has had any priority for a few years. I have a hard time trusting there will be a future given the owner(s)/developer(s) have been virtually ignoring us (as you confirmed in a recent post):
Wikidot search has been broken for some months now. I have sent an email to the Priority Support address included in my Pro+ plan, but not received a response. http://community.wikidot.com/forum/t-9335584/operation-timed-out-on-search
Please fix this. It is causing a lot of unhappy people on my wiki.
I agree Wikidot is a good platform but it really needs a recommitment from the top.
Agreed. I revised my post since it was painting a one-sided view and a bit misleading.
Why we using Wikidot?
- You can create wikis for free.
- You can communicate with people
- You can easily edit the Wiki.
- And more…

I just use it to write really, in a free and supportive community
The fact that wikidot has a syntax easy to remember for many things really help me a lot as it allows me to avoid boring steps while I'm writing. In fact, if it existed a writing software with the wikidot syntax I would download it.

I think, wikidot is ultimate.
I Use Wikidot because to make wiki sites And to join some communitys
Sad but true..
I was looking for a free Wiki service, then I checked around several alternatives and wikidot was the fastest one to put up from the scratch.
But I sent a request to the Miraheze team too, and they allowed me to create a real-Wikimedia wiki with them too late.
I'm satisfied now, but I know we're using something that has become old nowadays
'you agree?
