• The Inter-Ministerial Council for Contaminated Water, Treated Water and
Decommissioning Issues was established in September 2013 to tackle issues
associated with decommissioning and contaminated water as the whole
Government rather than counting solely on the operator.

Member : Relevant Ministers
• The NRA Chairman was also invited as a top of the regulator to
provide advice from the scientific and technical standpoints, but not
to participate in the decision making.
• The Government Basic Policy on the decision to discharge ALPS
treated water into the sea was established in April 2021 at this Council.
