This program provides support to deep tech startups who are committed to the research and development of high-risk, but innovative technology that will contribute to economic and social issues that need to be addressed by nations and the world as a whole; technology that requires long-term research and development and substantial funding to establish, commercialize, and implement in society. In particular, it supports international joint research and development activities to realize early technology dissemination and overseas market development for deep tech startups that wish to conduct joint research and development with overseas businesses in order to expand into overseas markets.
[How to support]
In supporting joint research and development activities (open innovation) between Japanese business operators and partner country business operators, NEDO collaborates with overseas research and development and innovation support organizations (public support organizations) to provide funds to Japanese business operators while the partner country organizations provide funds to their business operators under the co-funding scheme.

Program overview
Quantum, AI, robotics, semiconductors, electronics, energy and environment, biotechnology, new materials, medical devices, aerospace, and other mining and industrial technologies.
*Technologies associated with nuclear power and drug discovery (drug development and regenerative medicine products) are excluded in principle.
[1] Applicants must be unlisted Japanese small and medium-sized companies with their main research and development bases in Japan, as well as the applicant's principal investigators must be residents of Japan.
Other companies, research institutes, universities, and so on, can also join the project as subcontractors and joint research partners, if the project is represented and applied by Japanese business operators with the conditions above.
[2] Applicants must have an expected international joint research and development project with business operators from a partner country.

About two to three years
[Subsidy amount]
The maximum subsidy amount is 100 million yen per project. The subsidy amount shall be within two-thirds of the total project cost.
