Justice Minister delivers a statement at the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (May 17, 2021)

On May 17, 2021, the 30th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice kicked off in Vienna, Austria, with the Ceremonial Opening Segment to celebrate its 30th Anniversary, and Minister Kamikawa delivered a video statement at the Segment.
In her statement, Minister Kamikawa acknowledged the significant role that the Commission had played since its inception in 1992, emphasizing that the Commission was the most suitable forum to translate the Kyoto Declaration, which was adopted at the 14th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (Kyoto Congress) Japan hosted in March 2021, into concrete action and in ensuring robust, meaningful and effective follow-up to the Congress. She concluded that, by supporting the work of the Commission, Japan would continue to work with all stakeholders to realize societies where no one is left behind.
