How to Change the Lock Screen Background on Ubuntu

To change the background of your lock screen, first, right-click on your Ubuntu desktop. Then, select the Settings option.

From the opened window, navigate to the Background section, and choose any of the available images.

Consequently, the selected image will be applied as your desktop background. For confirmation, lock your screen, and view the changes.

However, if you want to set a custom background, click the Add Picture option from the menu bar and upload your desired photo.

After that, select the uploaded image. It will be set as the lock screen background with the blur effect.

How to Remove the Lock Screen Blur Effect

To remove the blur effect of the lock screen image, press Ctrl + Alt + T to open the terminal. Then, install GNOME Shell Extensions and GNOME Shell Extensions Manager with:

sudo apt install gnome-shell-extensions gnome-shell-extension-manager

After successful installation, open GNOME Extensions Manager and find the Lock Screen Background extension using the search bar.

Move to the Installed tab, enable the Control Blur Effect On Lock Screen toggle, and adjust the values as required.

Now, you can view the lock screen background without any blur effect.
