Keio engages in initiatives that stand as its pillars, one of these being the social implementation of research, which endeavor to enrich society through academic pursuits and increase the public trust in them, and another one being the creation of entrepreneurs and businesspeople that promote economic development. Through these activities, Keio strives to be a research university that has strong ties with and plays a leading role in all corners of society.
Much like the Socratic paradox, Fukuzawa believed that there was no end to academic pursuit: the more one knows, the more one is awed by the profundity of learning.
Keio University will further develop its distinctive research centers and, through combining intellect and morals, cultivate fertile ground that encourages interdisciplinary research to sprout and grow. By constructing a framework to support interdisciplinary research, problem solving, and social implementation, Keio will establish a research ecosystem that will bring to fruition the results of its academic pursuits, especially jitsugaku (science), and uphold them as the "Common Sense of the Future".

Combining intellect and morals to create fertile ground for diverse research centers to thrive, and forge the new common sense of the future through unparalleled research.
