I am proud to be an IM&A charterholder, having successfully completed the professional certification program and received my qualification in March 2021. The IMAA program provided me with a highly valuable and robust set of M&A skills. The comprehensive curriculum covers the entire M&A lifecycle, from strategy and valuation and due diligence right through to the final acquisition process, making this certification essential for anyone looking to excel in an M&A career. I was able to immediately apply this knowledge in the field, specifically by leveraging my skills during the KFH (Kuwait) acquisition of AUB (Bahrain)—one of the largest M&A transactions in the region. The certification training was directly applicable and instrumental to my success on this landmark deal.

I recently completed the online Certified Post Merger Integration Expert course from the Institute of Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances, and it has been a transformative experience for me. The course provided a comprehensive overview of the M&A process and equipped me with the skills necessary for successful post-merger integration.

Three key aspects to a successful post-merger integration include:

1. Effective Communication: Clear, transparent communication is critical to align all stakeholders and ensure smooth transitions. The course provided me with practical strategies and tools for crafting and delivering effective communication plans, helping me understand how to address concerns and foster collaboration among teams.
2. Strategic Planning and Execution: The course emphasized the importance of detailed planning and the need for a structured approach to integration. It helped me develop my ability to create and execute strategic plans by offering frameworks and methodologies that are crucial for integrating processes, systems, and cultures effectively.
3. Cultural Integration: Successfully merging organizational cultures can make or break the integration process. The training offered valuable insights into assessing cultural compatibility and managing change, allowing me to better address and integrate the differing cultures of merging entities.

Overall, this course was instrumental in helping me identify and enhance these critical skills. I now feel more confident in my ability to manage complex integrations and contribute to the overall success of M&A transactions. In 2022, I decided to formalize my M&A experience and memorialize my expertise with either an advanced degree or certification. I spent months investigating all the programs on offer and, after a detailed analysis, decided to engage IMAA and pursue one of their certifications. The process of getting the information I need to make the decision, securing my registration, and going through the program was extraordinary. So extraordinary that I pursued and earned three more certifications through IMAA. I am proud to be an IMAA Charterholder and thrilled to hold certifications associated with this great organization. The educational experience was first rate and I have achieved my goal of complimenting my “street” wisdom with a formal M&A educational background. IMAA was the perfect choice for me!

I always had the passion to discover about the M&A world. IMAA fulfilled my wish with the most relevant aspects of the M&A covered in just one course out of the New York City. With great content, lots of interactive work, mostly hands on course and insightful discussions, it was so enjoyable to receive a wealth of knowledge about the subject. Martin, a great mentor who made it fun and engaging for all, and with the examples from his extensive experiences, he made it absolutely unforgettable experience for us, and although there was a lot to learn, it was so light and easy to follow for everyone. I recently completed my IM&A (in-person) and M&AP (online) certifications. Both experiences were incredibly rewarding. The instructors had the depth of knowledge and personal experience you’d expect. The class was full of high-caliber, whip-smart, and friendly people. I learned from everyone. What I appreciated most about IMAA and the instructors (both in person and online) was often repeated notes of humility and ethics. I’d recommend attending the in-person course if possible but both were valuable.

As a part of my MBA program, I enrolled in the Entrepreneurial Finance course. The assessment process required a role-play exercise in which my group represented the buy-side while the target group represented the sell-side in the acquisition of a company. This novel and challenging process made me curious about the overall concept of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and its complete scope. In my research, IMAA was featured many times, and I enrolled in the program. After completing two courses, I can attest that every experience has provided me with new perspectives on how to approach deals and a shift in my understanding of stakeholder engagement/management. The valuation class helped me improve my financial modelling skills, while the IM&A course provided me with knowledge on deal processing, strategy, due diligence and commonly overlooked aspects of a deal that could either make or break the process – before and after a merger. I highly recommend the IM&A course to anyone seeking deeper insights and understanding into the complete end-to-end cycle of mergers and acquisitions. The program has equipped me with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage the intricacies of M&A transactions effectively, and I am confident that it will do the same for anyone who enrols.

I was looking for a program that helped develop my M&A skills & knowledge to help better serve our clients and was pointed in IMAA’s direction for our needs. I particularly appreciated the in-person format and networking with my fellow professionals before and after the class day.

I am more than glad I participated and am more confident when operating in the M&A arena as an advisor and acquirer of businesses.

I took IMAA’s IM&A certificate program as I wanted to fill a gap in my skill set on transitioning from the integration team to the deal team.
