At SMO-KC, she has worked supporting a number of international and regional networks, as well as bilateral cooperation between IGES and other organisations. She currently works for not only LoCARNet, but also the Strategic Research Network for Leveraging Climate Neutral Sustainable Societies (LCS-RNet), which IGES has served as the Secretariat. Recently, she also works for the Regional Zero-Carbon Working Group, Japanese Universities’ Coalition, as one of the staff members of the Secretariat. He has led various research projects on environmental and sustainability governance issues including: sustainable development goals (SDGs), regional environmental cooperation in East Asia, biofuels, transboundary air pollution, and local governance. He led various publications on SDGs including "Integration Versus Prioritization in the Sustainable Development Goals" in Sustainable Development, "The Design of Environmental Priorities in the SDGs" in Global Policy," ASEAN Countries’ Environmental Policies for the Sustainable Development Goals" in Environment, Development and Sustainability," Assessment of the G20 Countries’ Concrete SDG Implementation Efforts" Sustainability, and a book, Realising the Transformative Potential of the SDGs. He was a Lead Author of the UN Environment Programme’s Global Environment Outlook 5 (GEO5), and a Coordinating Lead Author of (GEO6) and (GEO7). He also led the development of the Sixth ASEAN State of the Environment Report. Before joining IGES in 2006, he was Assistant Professor of Political Economy and International Relations at Michigan State University. Accelerating International Collaboration towards a Net-zero and Resilient ASEAN through the ASEAN Climate Change Strategic Action Plan 2025-2030
On 8 December 2023, the COP28 Japan Pavilion side event "Accelerating International Collaboration towards a Net-zero and Resilient ASEAN" was organised by the ASEAN Secretariat and the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), inviting ASEAN Member State (AMS) representatives, youth, and a European research organisation, and had a panel discussion on accelerating financial, technological and capacity development and international collaboration in ASEAN. The dialogue became an important stepping stone for the future of the ASEAN region. The present proceedings summarise the insights and voices from the panelists and audience, with a view to contributing to the co-creation of the ASEAN Climate Change Strategic Action Plan 2025-2030 (ACCSAP) and the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change (ACCC).
