Previous research

My research to date has involved a comprehensive investigation of Laos, with the aim of elucidating its mechanisms of government, particularly through analysis of its electoral, legislative, and party systems as well as the personnel and policy-making processes of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. In recent years, I have been conducting research to clarify the mechanisms by which authoritarian regimes maintain power through democratic institutions such as legislatures and elections, using Laos as a case study.

Current research projects

In addition to continuing the research I have been conducting on the relationship between democratic institutions and authoritarian regimes, I am also working to elucidate the role of village chief elections in regime stability. Furthermore, I am conducting research on Kaysone Phomviharn Thought in order to reveal how the Lao People's Revolutionary Party legitimizes its rule through ideology. In the near future, I would like to examine the topic of political use of social media in authoritarian regimes.
